Megan's Labor and Delivery StoryDec 10, 2020
Megan McCown, a first-time mom, shared her positive labor and delivery experience at Hilton Head Hospital’s Glenn N. Love Women's Center amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It was our first baby, it took us nine years to get to her, so we were very anxious, worried and obviously adding COVID to it did not help.”
She also talked about the safety precautions we have in place to help ensure the safety of our patients.
“Safety was the big thing, you know, we were also very disappointed later on when we found out that we wouldn’t be able to have visitors. It was just going to be my husband and I during the delivery.”
“When we arrived, they checked everyone's temperature, everybody we came into contact with was wearing masks from registration to doctors to nurses. So that obviously made us really comfortable to know everyone was taking on these precautions. Everybody was handwashing and hand sanitizing. They were all really diligent about it.”
“They encouraged us to facetime with our family and try to make our stay and our birthing as normal as possible with obviously limited visitors and everything like that. They were extra supportive, I feel. Everybody was very caring and made the delivery experience everything I could have dreamed for it to be, being a first time mom.”
