Mandy's Nursing Career Story

Jun 6, 2019

Mandy Claprood, orthopedic charge nurse, Hilton Head Hospital

Orthopedic charge nurse Mandy Claprood was inspired to become involved in the medical community after a firsthand experience with patient satisfaction.

“I had a friend from high school whose sister was a nurse and we went to visit her one day,” she says. “I was really impressed with her work. I always enjoyed the environment of the hospital.”

A psychology major at the time, Claprood changed tracks and began pursuing a career in nursing. In the last five years, she has become an indispensible part of the Hilton Head Hospital team through her attentive nature.

“Patients are nervous and they don’t know what to expect,” she says. “They want to know they’re OK and they want to know that it’s normal to feel how they feel. It’s important for them to hear that everything’s going as it should be.”
