Hilton Head Regional Physician Network welcomes Timothy J. Alikakos, M.D. to Hilton Head Heart joining Aaron Ford, M.D.; Jay Kalan, M.D.; Mark Lawton, M.D.; John Sharp, M.D; and Jonathan MacCabe, M.D.

The addition of Dr. Alikakos to the Hilton Head Heart team reaffirms Hilton Head Regional Physician Network’s dedication to making Hilton Head Island the destination for cardiology care, according to hospital leadership.

Dr. Alikakos provides interventional and peripheral vascular cardiology services, including the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as heart disease, heart failure, coronary atherosclerosis, chest discomfort, heart attacks, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and many other cardiovascular-related ailments. When asked about his approach to patient care, Dr. Alikakos emphasizes he treats each patient as if they were a family member and strives to remain upfront and direct with patient care leaving no question unanswered.

Board-certified in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Alikakos has more than 20 years of experience. Before joining Hilton Head Regional Physician Network, he practiced at Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Associates at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. Prior to that, he worked at Heartcare Cardiovascular Specialists, SC in Libertyville, Illinois, and acted as the Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.

Dr. Alikakos earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He then completed his residency and fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
