Hilton Head Regional Physician Network Welcomes Dr. Deana Harmon
Aug 18, 2020Hardeeville and Hilton Head, SC – Hilton Head Regional Physician Network welcomes Deana Harmon, DO, FACOOG to Riverside Women’s Care. Dr. Harmon is committed to the care of the whole woman with avid interests in comprehensive obstetrical care, well woman visits and adolescent gynecology. She is da Vinci Robotics certified and performs minimally invasive gynecological surgery.
“I decided to pursue medicine due to an avid interest in the intricacies of the human body, especially anatomy,” said Dr. Deana Harmon. “I knew I wanted to enter into a surgical specialty, but decided on women’s health in particular when I worked at women and children’s shelter during a summer of medical school. I was able to help facilitate the care of women and children in all age groups. I realized that the continuity of care for a woman during all stages of her life allowed me to develop long-term relationships with my patients. These relationships will always be fondly remembered.”
Dr. Harmon earned her medical degree at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Lewisburg. She completed a combined obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency at the Genesys Regional Medical Center, Grand Blanc, Michigan, a partnering training site of Michigan State University. Dr. Harmon is a member of the member of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.
“Moving to a new state was a big decision. Meeting the group at Riverside solidified that decision with their overall vision for women’s care,” shared Dr. Harmon. “I practiced for 13 years in Tennessee before moving to Bluffton. My family and I wanted to relocate to an area we regularly visit and enjoy. I will continue to provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care and I look forward to continuing my interest in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, especially robotics.”
