Hilton Head Regional Healthcare (HHRH) is excited to announce the relaunch of its Pet Therapy Program at Hilton Head Hospital, Coastal Carolina Hospital and Tidewatch Freestanding Emergency Department. The program, which was paused for safety precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic, resumed over the summer.

HHRH’s Pet Therapy Program includes a team of more than twelve certified pets and their owners who have had extensive training through the Alliance for Therapy Dogs International Program or an equivalent training. Therapy dogs and their owners visit with patients, patient families, and hospital staff alike. They may be seen walking the halls and bringing smiles throughout the three hospital locations any day between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

This relaunch supports HHRH’s commitment to patient-centered care and its dedication to enhancing the hospital experience for patients and team members,” said Lori Trimble, HHRH Marketing Manager. “These furry volunteers bring so much joy, comfort and encouragement to everyone they encounter,” she added.
