Hilton Head Hospital Awarded Spine Surgery Program Certification from the Joint Commission

May 28, 2019

Hilton Head Hospital, S.C. – May 28, 2019 – Hilton Head Regional Healthcare (HHRH) is pleased to announce that it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for its Spine Surgery Program at Hilton Head Hospital. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

Spine Surgery certification recipients“Everyone at Hilton Head Hospital is very proud of the hard work that went into achieving this certification,” said Jeremy Clark, Hilton Head Regional Healthcare CEO. “This would not be possible without our dedicated physicians and exemplary staff! We are one of only four hospitals in South Carolina to receive this spine surgery designation from the Joint Commission and it is truly a testament of the high quality care we provide.”

“This is both recognition and validation of the day-in and day-out, consistent hard work, attention to detail and expertise in spine care given by each of our team members,” said Dr. K. Craig Boatright, orthopedic surgeon. “Each spine is unique and ages differently over time. This means good advice should be specific to your spine from someone who understands the whole picture, as well as the whole you. For patients seeking spine care, this certification confirms our program to be what we designed it to be – high quality care based on best practices of modern medicine delivered in a pleasant, friendly, professional environment.”

Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:

  • Compliance with consensus-based national standards;
  • Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and
  • An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
