During joint replacement surgery, the surgeon uses the CORI handheld robotics technology to create a customized 3D digital model of the patient’s knee. This image helps the surgeon choose the right size implant and create a detailed surgical plan to optimize the knee’s range of motion and function.

“Same day surgery can provide a great deal of convenience for patients seeking joint replacement surgery,” shared Dr. Norcross. “I consider Hilton Head Hospital to be a destination location for multiple reasons. We have patients who travel here from out-of-state for adventure, leisure, and medical care. The new technology and same day surgery options now available at Hilton Head Hospital will help more residents and visitors get back to their lives faster.”

Some of the injuries and conditions that may lead to a total knee replacement include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteonecrosis, bone tumors, loss of joint cartilage, and non-inflammatory or inflammatory degenerative joint disease.
