$18,000 Donation to Volunteers in Medicine
Jun 10, 2019Hilton Head, S.C. – June 10, 2019 – Hilton Head Regional Healthcare (HHRH) is pleased to share that its volunteer Auxiliary Caring Touch (ACT) Program recently donated $18,000 to local non-profit organizations. $9,000 was given to both Volunteers in Medicine Bluffton and Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head for patient medication.
“Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head Island is so thankful to the Hospital Auxiliary’s Caring Touch Program for their generous and continued support of the pharmacy,” said Ginger Allen, Director of Development at VIM Hilton Head. “Having medications onsite and readily available at the Clinic vastly improves patient adherence to a medication regimen and thereby enables significant improvements in health outcomes.”
The funds were generated by proceeds from the gift shops at Coastal Carolina Hospital and Hilton Head Hospital. The gift shops are managed and staff by volunteers.
“Our volunteers are invaluable assets to our hospitals and their Auxiliary Caring Touch Program directly impacts local patients who may not be able to afford their medicine,” said Jeremy Clark, chief executive officer of Hilton Head Regional Healthcare. “The Auxiliary’s continued commitment to serving the members of our community is truly inspiring!”
