Hilton Head Hospital's volunteers enhance the quality of care for our patients, as well as assist our staff and visitors, by tending to their non-medical needs in a caring and competent manner. Since opening its doors more than 35 years ago, this 93-bed Hospital has been a special place for our residents who wish to give of themselves in service to those who are in need of healthcare.
Volunteers serve in the following patient care areas:
Acute Care/Medical Surgical unit
Intensive Care/Progressive Care unit
Surgical Services
Center for Digestive Diseases
Emergency Department
Radiology
Physical Rehabilitation
Patient Relations
Women's Center
Volunteers serve in the following non-patient care areas:
Information Desks
Gift Shop
Bloodmobile
Greeters
Patient Escorts
Surgery Waiting Room
Patient Access/Registration
The "Trolley," our around-the-campus golf cart
"Swifties" transporters and errand-runners
Volunteers also assist with office/clerical tasks and serve in:

Auxiliary Caring Touch Program (ACT)
The volunteer program is open to men and women from all walks of life; additionally, young people aged 14-21 may participate in our Junior Volunteer Program during the summer months. We welcome people who have some time to share, a desire to give of themselves, a strong sense of responsibility, and a willingness to be flexible and learn new skills.

Volunteers receive extensive training from staff and other volunteers
