June Kasiak-Gambla, RN, BSN, Registered Nurse and certified Breast Health Navigator for Hilton Head Hospital Breast Health Center (BHC) recently passed the Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN) Examination administered by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. The Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN®) examination is aimed at testing the knowledge necessary for the nurse to practice competently in breast care. CBCN® is the only accredited certification program that is available exclusively to registered nurses, and that encompasses the entire spectrum of breast care nursing practice. This certification is a validation of an individual's knowledge of breast care.
Kasiak-Gambla, with more than 20 years of experience, is responsible for the case management, education, and navigation of Hilton Head Hospital Breast Health Center patients from detection to diagnosis of both benign and malignant breast disease. She manages the BHC’s High Risk Program which is designed to identify and counsel women at an increased risk for breast cancer as well as offering genetic counseling and testing. She facilitates the BHC’s monthly multidisciplinary tumor board conference, survivorship program and Hope and Healing support group.
Prior to coming to Hilton Head Hospital, she was the Breast Care Coordinator under the Breast Care Initiative Program for the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina. She also specialized in women’s health nursing at Northwestern Memorial Hospital; Prentice Women’s Hospital in Chicago, IL. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University of Chicago, Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Chicago, Illinois.
