2011 Hospitals Offer Flu Shots

Hilton Head Hospital and Coastal Carolina Hospital will provide seasonal flu shots for the community starting in September.  According to the CDC, influenza viruses are always changing, so annual vaccination is recommended. It will not prevent illness caused by other viruses.  It takes up to 2 weeks for protection to develop after the shot. Protection lasts about a year.

There is no cost for the seasonal flu shot for individuals with Medicare. Medicare recipients must bring a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state issued identification card, and their Medicare Card (Part B).  The immunization is $25 for persons who do not have Medicare, payable in cash or check only. No insurances will be accepted or filed.
