Hilton Head Hospital's volunteers enhance the quality of care for our patients, as well as assist our staff and visitors, by tending to their non-medical needs in a caring and competent manner. Since opening its doors more than 35 years ago, this 93-bed Hospital has been a special place for our residents who wish to give of themselves in service to those who are in need of healthcare.

Volunteers serve in the following patient care areas:

    Acute Care/Medical Surgical unit/Orthopedic Center
    Intensive Care/Progressive Care unit
    Surgical Services
    Center for Digestive Diseases
    Emergency Department
    Radiology/Imaging
    Physical Rehabilitation
    Patient Relations
    Women's Center

Volunteers serve in the following non-patient care areas:

    Information and Welcome Desks
    Gift Shop
    Bloodmobile
    Newborn Baby Cap Knitters
    "Huggles" stuffed toy stitchers
    Patient Escorts
    Surgery Waiting Room
    Patient Access/Registration
The "Trolley," our around-the-campus golf cart
    "Swifties" transporters and errand-runners

Volunteers also assist with office/clerical tasks and serve in:

    Administration
    Auxiliary Board
    Medical Records
    Human Resources
    Medical Staff Services
    Auxiliary Caring Touch

In addition to the above, volunteer opportunities are available at our two outpatient facilities; Bluffton Medical Campus and Bluffton-Okatie Outpatient Center.

The volunteer program is open to men, women, and college students; additionally, high school students aged 14-18 may participate in our Junior Volunteer Program during the summer months. We welcome people who have time to share, a desire to give of themselves, a strong sense of responsibility, and a willingness to be flexible and learn new skills.
