The Prostate Center at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center provides a comprehensive program to men in our community. We’ve united with physicians on our medical staff to offer men some of the latest resources to fight prostate disease or prostate cancer. These resources, including the diagnoses and treatment of prostate disease or prostate cancer, enable us to offer support during treatment.
The Center includes a skilled team of medical professionals, each of whom makes important contributions to the treatment program. Our urologists specialize in diagnoses and will help determine a treatment plan for you. The oncologists specialize in treating cancer with chemotherapy and radiation. The medical center’s nursing and surgical staffs provide in-patient care to help you through surgical procedures and through your hospital stay.
We offer a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment:
- Diagnostic & clinical medicine
- Advanced surgical treatments
- Cancer education
- Screening & detection
- Nutrition
- Rehabilitation services
- Support Groups (community referrals) & psychosocial services
- Pain management services
There are a variety of approaches to treating prostate cancer and advancements in technology are continually improving the tools available to the medical profession. An ideal treatment approach is one that combines quality care with a minimal disruption of the patient’s quality of life. Each treatment approach has advantages and disadvantages, so the goal of the physician is to select a treatment or combination of treatments for a specific patient.

WHAT TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR
Talking to your doctor is one of the best ways to help you understand your medical condition. When sitting in your doctor's office, it can be hard to remember all the questions that you may have. Sometimes it is helpful to write down a list of concerns to discuss with your physician.
