Hilton Head Regional Medical Center's volunteers enhance the quality of care for our patients, as well as assist our staff and visitors, by tending to their non-medical needs in a caring and competent manner. Since opening its doors 30 years ago, this 93-bed Medical Center has been a special place for our residents who wish to give of themselves in service to those who are in need of healthcare.
Volunteers serve in the following patient care areas:
Acute Care Intensive Care/Progressive Care Outpatient Surgery G.I. Lab Emergency Department Obstetrics Radiology Physical Rehabilitation Cardiac Cath Lab Operating Room
Volunteers serve in the following non-patient care areas:
Information Desks Gift Shop Bloodmobile Greeters Patient Escorts OR Waiting Room Patient Access/Registration The "Trolley," our around-the-campus golf cart LifeLine emergency response system "Swifties" transporters and errand-runners
Volunteers also assist with office/clerical tasks and serve in:
Medical Records Human Resources Medical Staff Department Central Sterile Supply Laboratory Auxiliary Caring Touch Program Engineering Accounting
The volunteer program is open to men and women from all walks of life; additionally, young people aged 14-21 may participate in our Junior Volunteer Program. We welcome people who have some time to share, a desire to give of themselves, a strong sense of responsibility, and a willingness to be flexible and learn new skills.
