Tips for Dealing With Jellyfish Stings

Summertime means beach fun. It also means jellyfish season on Hilton Head Island beaches.

These aquatic invertebrates are equipped with nemocysts which are spring-loaded venom glands. When the jellyfish's tentacles come in contact with something, the nemocysts "sting" whatever they are in contact with. If the object in question is a person, the sting results in skin irritation and discomfort.

If you are on the receiving end of a jellyfish sting, we have some tips on how to treat the stings. You can download these tips using Adobe Acrobat reader (free download).
