HHRMC Donates $40,000 to Hurricane Relief Efforts

Hilton Head Regional Medical Center employees, medical staff and board of governors has donated $40,000 to help those living in the region of the Gulf Coast directly affected by Katrina.  The donation will be split; $20,000 to the Tenet Disaster Relief Fund and $20,000 to the United Way Hurricane Katrina Response Fund.  Tenet operates six hospitals in the affected region and more than 5,000 Tenet employees and their families have been affected.

“Hilton Head Regional Medical Center chose these two organizations first and foremost because we want to help our sister hospitals and employees rebuild their lives. We are taking this opportunity to hopefully help relieve their burden and be able to contribute to their community,” says Elizabeth Lamkin, president and chief executive officer.  “We chose the United Way because, like in Beaufort County, their programs and agencies make a measurable impact on sustaining and strengthening a community for both short- and long-term needs of individuals and families.”

The Tenet Disaster Relief Fund provides financial assistance for shelter, medical attention, clothing and other relief to Tenet employees and their dependents with an urgent need for temporary help due to natural, widespread disasters.  Tenet Healthcare Corporation in return doubles any contribution made to the Tenet Disaster Relief Fund.
