Hilton Head Island, SC – October 4, 2004 – The Cardiac Rehabilitation programs at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center and at Bluffton-Okatie Outpatient Center has been granted a re-certification with “unconditional approval” by the South Carolina Joint Committee on Cardiac Rehab.  The cardiac rehabilitation program met or exceeded all certification criteria but two with a total score of 150 out of a maximum of 152.  Recertification is required every three years.

                The medical director of South Carolina Medical Association made the following comments about the review; the individualized patient care plans were particularly noteworthy and gave congratulations on strong programs and excellent preparation for the certification process.

                                The Joint Committee (South Carolina Medical Association/American Heart Association, SC Affiliate) on Cardiac Rehabilitation has been designated by the SCMA to coordinate the certification of outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs.

           A diagnosis of cardiac or pulmonary disease often brings with it questions, concerns and fears. The certified programs provide resources to answer your questions, help you make appropriate lifestyle changes and help you to increase your cardiovascular fitness level.
