Physical Rehabilitation Clinic Awarded Three-Year CARF Accreditation

August 14, 2002

The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF) announced that Hilton Head Medical Center’s Physical Rehabilitation Clinic has been accredited for a period of three years for its Medical Rehabilitation Programs, Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs (Adults), and Pediatric Family-Centered Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs. The latest accreditation is the second consecutive Three-Year Accreditation outcome that the international accrediting commission has awarded to Hilton Head Medical Center’s Physical Rehabilitation Clinic.

This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization by CARF and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during on an on-site visit that its programs and services are of high quality, measurable, and accountable.

Hilton Head Medical Center’s Physical Rehabilitation Clinic offers Aquatic Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Industrial Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Speech & Language Therapy, and Sports Medicine.

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
